We had a very Merry Christmas this year. On Christmas Eve we went to my Opa's annual Christmas Eve party. It was great to see everyone! My Grandpa puts a lot of work into it, we love you Grandpa. On Christmas day, after we opened presents we went up to my moms. It was nice and relaxing. We had dinner, played a game, and then we went and saw "Bed Time Stories" After Christmas I have not been feeling too well and I am so ready to be better and back to myself again!!! Here are the pictures, they tell the story better than I can!

Last night we met my family in SLC to go see the lights! It wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be. Austin gave a dollar to the scottish man playing the bagpipes. It was cool! We then went into the church museum and we were all trying to prounounce the book of mormon in different languages. One was from "Santa" - You will see what I mean when my sister gives me some of the pictures she took....

Merry Christmas to all no matter how you say it,

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS,
HE LIVED ALL ALONE,
IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE
MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE.

I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY
WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,
AND TO SEE JUST WHO
IN THIS HOME DID LIVE.

I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,
A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,
NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,
NOT EVEN A TREE.

NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,
JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,
AND ON THE WALL PICTURES
OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

WITH MEDALS AND BADGES,
AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,
A SOBERING THOUGHT
CAME TO MY MIND.

FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT,
SO DARK AND SO DREARY,
THE HOME OF A SOLDIER,
NOW I COULD SEE CLEARLY.

THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING,
SILENT, ALONE,
CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR
IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.

THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE,
THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER,
NOT HOW I PICTURED
A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.

WAS THIS THE HERO
OF WHOM I'D JUST READ?
CURLED UP ON A PONCHO,
THE FLOOR FOR A BED?

I REALIZED THE FAMILIES
HAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,
OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS
WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

SOON ROUND THE WORLD,
THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,
AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE
A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM
EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,
BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS,
LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.

I COULDN'T HELP WONDER
HOW MANY LAY ALONE,
ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE
IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.

THE VERY THOUGHT BROUGHT
A TEAR TO MY EYE,
I DROPPED TO MY KNEES
AND STARTED TO CRY.

THE SOLDIER AWAKENED
AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,
"SANTA DON'T CRY,
THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;

I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,
I DON'T ASK FOR MORE,
MY LIFE IS MY GOD,
MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS."

THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER
AND SOON DRIFTED TO SLEEP,
I COULDN'T CONTROL IT,
I CONTINUED TO WEEP.

I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS,
SO SILENT AND STILL,
AND WE BOTH SHIVERED
FROM THE COLD EVENING'S CHILL.

I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE
ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,
THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR
SO WILLING TO FIGHT.

THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER,
WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,
WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA,
IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE."

ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH,
AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND,
AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT."

Now that 2008 is coming to an end..

Did you make new friend's and they become some of your best friends?
yes

Did you get into a physical fight with anyone?
Nope

Did you go to a funeral or wedding?
Both, A funeral (always happens when I am pregnant and emotional) and a wedding

Get so drunk that you passed out?
No

Smoke weed?
No

Lost your voice?
Almost.

Had someone tell you that they liked you?
Yeah

How has 2008 been so far?
good, if flew by because I was wishing it away and to be August already! I Was sick because I was pregnant for the most part. Now seeing the snow,it reminds me of my morning sickness. If the kids start watching "Super why" I want to throw up! That's all they pretty much did those days I was sick. After August came, it flew by but thankfully it didn't snow right away! I think next year is going to be an eventful year, good or bad I think it will be different.
"come what may and love it!!!"
How old do you want to be when you die?
Old enough to see my grand kids have kids and to have lived a good life.

Where was your last kiss?
Trent kissed me goodbye before he left for work

How do you feel about love songs?
some are good

Who was the last person to call you?
A medical bill operator.

Have you ever talked on the phone in the shower/bathtub?
I always talk on the phone to my mom when I am in the bath

Where's the person you miss most?
at work

Do you just want to yell in someones face right now?
No

Was today a good day?
I hope it will be

Whats wrong right now?
I am tired, but ok!

What are your plans for this weekend?
Christmas eve party, Christmas day at my moms, a movie, temple square, and then a wedding the next day
Are you dating the last person you kissed?
Married to him.

Do you still play in the snow?
not really, unless we go sledding

Seven days from now, will you be in a relationship?
Yep!

Is it cute when a boy/girl calls you baby?
It can be.

Is there someone that you believe you will always be attracted to?
Yes!

Would you forgive a cheater?
Yes. As hard it would be, as long as they were willing to change then yes. There are only TWO reasons for the "D" word in my marriage ... 1. If there was ever abuse, I would have no choice but to leave. 2. If the other person wasn't willing or didn't want to change, then again, nothing I could do. As long as I can do my part and make something work I will, forgiveness is not bringing it back up in anger so it would be a long time to work on it if I was cheated on, but yes I would forgive and mean it.

Have you ever, in any way, been betrayed by someone you trusted?
"What a stupid question! Who hasn't had that happen?"
LOL Kim, I like your answer so I will keep that!!
Are you mean?I joke a lot, but really I am not mean... not too bad anyways. jk

Where was your default picture taken?
My couch in W.T

Did you date anyone this summer?
Husband count?

Do you trust people easily?
I probably shouldn't as much as I do .. I ran into a con - artist back in College, you think that would be my lesson then!

Whats one thing you wish you could take back?
THe people I could have gotten to know before it was too late. I used to hold up a wall for security so I wouldn't have to get hurt when I knew someone I would meet would soon pass away or leave. Now my motto is "Come what may and Love it!"

Does it matter when your friends bring up your past mistakes?
Anyone who does that with the intent to hurt, has not really forgiven that person then.

Do you sing obnoxiously in the car?
Whenever I sing it is obnoxious!
!

Would you go in public looking like you do right now?
sadly, yes.

Heart of a Hawk

I heard about this book on the Glenn Beck Program. It is about a fallen hero. When he was 13 years old his parents got divorced, and his father had custody. His dad remarried *His step mom is the one who helped write the book, she was on the Glenn Beck show today* Anyways the kid got into drugs and became a heroin addict after his mom passed away when he was only 17. The guy was homeless and stole money from his parents. Finally at the age of 28 he came to his dad and said he needed help. This guy changed his whole life around and went into the armed forces. While serving in Baghdad, he had only 43 days left before he could come home, he saved the people he loved serving with him after being hit. Dr's don't understand how he possibly could have saved them because with his wound he should have died and not have the strength to fire over 500 bullets. He later died in his friends arms. I want to read this book really bad and thought some of you out there may want to know about it too.

Did you hear??
BOUNTIFUL, Utah (AP) - Graves are going green.
Utah's Lakeview Memorial Cemetery and Mortuary is offering the option of a green burial, which involves a biodegradable casket (Your already going to be decomposing, why not the box your in? lol) - the traditional plain pine box, perhaps - and refrigeration instead of embalming fluid.(Great, I am going to look like Jack Frost at my funeral!)
The mortuary also offers an eco-friendly funeral and interment in a natural setting in the foothills above Bountiful. (Throw me in the foothills eh, Hate to be living there.)
Memorial Mortuaries and Cemeteries General Manager Brandon Burningham says he expects the increased interest in the environment to create interest.
No one has yet signed up for the service, which has been available since September. (I WONDER WHY)
Casket options include pine, poplar, willow or woven sea grass.(Just throw me in the sea and let me get tangled in the sea weed, that works too) Graves are dug by hand and grave markers are brass plaques, flat stones or trees.( Is that supposed to entice me?)
Today I was watching the news, they put up a picture of the snow down in St.George. I decided that if you want to live somewhere where it doesn't really snow, and even St.George gets more, come move to my neighborhood!

I know it isn't the New Year yet, however I am going to try two things before my brother gets home from his mission.*Since that was when I fell off the bandwagon* Number one- read a book to my kids everyday. Number two- Eat better, and get off my butt and exercise!*We will see how long that lasts, but I hope by Feb. When my brother gets back it will be a habit*
The other day my kids came running up to me asking who this was! I started laughing because Back in 2000,when my sister Kelli was getting married, we played a game where you had to guess the famous couple. I thought it would be cool to make one of me and Ben Affleck. *too bad my face looks as white as the dress.*

My niece is so cute she made all these Christmas cards for the family. The one for Trent said "Dear Trent, I think your really nice! Your as friendly as a dog."

Mine said: "Dear Jamie, I think your really, really pretty! Your as pretty as a flower."

"Dear Hannah, I think your hair is very pretty! Your as cute as a bunny!"

"Dear Austin, I think your really cute and crazy! Your as crazy as a monkey."

"dear Faith you are the cutest baby I've ever seen! Your as cuddly as a teddy bear"

Love Haylee! (We all got a cute little picture that she colored for us)

My friend helped me make these Christmas cards!

This week has been busy!! We have made gingerbread houses, had friends over, helped at a Ward Christmas Party, and had a family party. I got some new ornaments for my tree~!

There are a lot of Holocaust movies coming out soon. Here are two that I want to see:

Defiance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIO8OI0JP50
*Also the hot guy from James Bond plays in it* (DANG IT ALL I just found out it's rated "R") First it's "Changeling" and now this.. ergh

This is based on a novel, but I swear I have heard a true story sort of like this, but they were girls, and one girl was a Jewish maid in the home of a Nazi Officer. Ring a bell? Maybe I have been watching too many shows.

For visiting teaching I found these cute magnetic "believe" signs along with "JoY" ornaments. (Ok So I kind of cheated, this month I used President Monson's talk from conference last month since I didn't get to sit down and visit with the ladies last month.) Here is what the tied up papers said:
Finding Joy in the Journey
President Thomas S. Monson
“Nothing is as constant as change.”
Throughout our lives, we must deal with change. Some changes are welcome; some are not. There are changes in our lives which are sudden, such as the unexpected passing of a loved one, an unforeseen illness, the loss of a possession we treasure. But most of the changes take place subtly and slowly.
If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will—to your surprise—miss them profoundly.
Stresses in our lives come regardless of our circumstances. We must deal with them the best we can. But we should not let them get in the way of what is most important—and what is most important almost always involves the people around us. Often we assume that they must know how much we love them. But we should never assume; we should let them know. Wrote William Shakespeare, “They do not love that do not show their love.”3 We will never regret the kind words spoken or the affection shown. Rather, our regrets will come if such things are omitted from our relationships with those who mean the most to us.
Send that note to the friend you’ve been neglecting; give your child a hug; give your parents a hug; say “I love you” more; always express your thanks. Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved. Friends move away, children grow up, loved ones pass on. It’s so easy to take others for granted, until that day when they’re gone from our lives and we are left with feelings of “what if” and “if only.” Said author Harriet Beecher Stowe, “The bitterest tears shed over graves are for words left unsaid and deeds left undone.”4

I gave this one to my visiting teaching partner.
“Be not faithless, but believing.” Believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the greatest figure of time and eternity. Believe that his matchless life reached back before the world was formed. Believe that he was the Creator of the earth on which we live. Believe that he was Jehovah of the Old Testament, that he was the Messiah of the New Testament, that he died and was resurrected, that he visited the western continents and taught the people here, that he ushered in this final gospel dispensation, and that he lives, the living Son of the living God, our Savior and our Redeemer. Gordon B. Hinkley

Happy 4 month old birthday Faith!!

I normally don't host parties because of two reasons. Number one: I am lazy. Number two: I don't want people to feel obligated to buy things. However, a couple months ago I went to a shoe party and loved the shoes. Now that Christmas is coming soon I want some! I can only get the ones I want from hosting a party. Would anyone be interested in coming? The thing I like about these shoes are a. they are cute. and b. they are cheap!

Here are some of the stuff they have:

For Christmas ( I figure I would tell people so if they wanted to do the same idea they still have time) I am giving someone in my family *hopefully they don't read this blog too often* "The Miracle of the Wooden Shoes." First off my family has ancestors from Holland and when we were little our grandparents brought us each a pair of our own wooden shoes from their mission when they served over there. This book is a really cool book that explains the traditions of Christmas in Germany and this one boy's Christmas that changed his life forever. His father is sick and they didn't have enough money for "St. Nickolas" where they would put their wooden shoes out and in the morning things would be inside. Well to his surprise he wakes up with a letter rolled in red ribbon and candles. The letter has a scripture on it how Christ is the light of the world. So for my present the first day I am going to give her or him *can't tell* a candle with the scripture on it. The second day the boy comes out to find a wood pile for fire with the scripture how his word is like a burning fire. (give the person matches ) The third day it talks about how Christ is the bread of life. You then give the person a loaf of bread or rolls. Fourth day it talks about feasting on the word of Christ. You give the person chocolate with the book. I wish the books were cheaper because it would be such a fun idea to do for neighbors! I ran into a woman at the book store who told me her ward did this as their Christmas party! What a great idea! I think I will even do it for my kids.

Yes, I am alive! I just haven't had much to blog about, ok that's a lie I have a lot to blog about but I am lazy. Big surprise huh? Well SO much has happened the last two weeks. First my older brother had his first child!! The kid is so cute! Must get that from his mother! jk guys. I have had fun chit chatting with friends it has made my day go by so much smoother. The dr. found out I am having eye migraines. I will be sitting talking to someone and for the life of me I can't think and I stumble over all my words! So if you just met me and all of a sudden you are wondering if I am all there, I usually am. LOL at least I think so. jk. Poor Faith hasn't been feeling well lately. She has been crying until I turned on Sesame Street for Austin, and she sat there and watched until she fell asleep! The dr. thinks she has a UTI but hasn't tested yet. *seriously wish they would've already* On Sunday we went up to my mom's to celebrate my sisters 19th birthday! Happy Birthday tomorrow Erin!
